Bangkok's airports resume operations

Bangkok: Flights have begun operating from Bangkok's two airports, almost a week after the city was brought to a complete standstill by opposition protests. However, airport officials have said that a full schedule will not resume for another day. The Suvarnabhumi Airport was taking in a limited number of international flights and flights are leaving for Australia and Europe. A halt was called to the blockade of the country's two main airports on Wednesday after a Tuesday court ruling that deposed the prime minister and banned the three ruling parties due to charges of electoral fraud. According to the BBC, the protesters agreed to leave the airports after the prime minister resigned. More than 300,000 travellers were stranded across Thailand during the political unrest that was led by the People's Alliance for Democracy.
