Mob, police clash: Noida skeleton case

       Noida (UP): Angry mob clashed with police in Nithari village on the outskirts of Delhi on Monday over the grisly discovery of the skeletal remains of 17 people, including a dozen of children. Angry relatives and parents of the children accused the police of failing to act when they reported the disappearance of their children. They demanded CBI inquiry. The police had to lathicharge to disperse the angry crowd gathered outside the house of main accused Mohinder Singh Pandher in Sector 31. The police have erected barricades around the house as they proceeded with digging as part of their search for more evidence in the case. The police have found at least 17 skulls from the drain behind Pandher's house. Meena Mandal, whose five-year old son Vikram is missing for the past nine months, reached the venue along with her husband. "I have looked for my son everywhere and when we failed to find him, we came here. Maybe my son is also here," Meena said with tears in her eyes.

      Pandher, a factory owner and his domestic servant Surender aka Satish allegedly sexually abused the children before killing them. The two are under arrest. Pandher's maid, Maya, has also been arrested by the police for interrogation. "We are interrogating Maya but as of now nothing new has come up. But we are investigating the matter," said RKS Rathore, Senior Superintendent of Police, Noida. In the past 21 months, thirty-eight children were reported missing, mostly girls in the age group of 3-11 years. According to the police, Surender has admitted to the killing of the children, and said that Pandher was also involved in the crime. Police teams have also been sent to Ludhiana to interrogate Pandher's family members. The bones and skulls recovered have also been sent for a scientific test to forensic labs at Agra and Hyderabad.
