Bollywood flick 'Tahaan' releases across the country

Mumbai: Bollywood's latest flick, 'Tahaan', a fable about an eight-year-old boy Tahaan and his donkey shot extensively in Pahalgam in Kashmir, is released across the country on Friday. In order to promote the film, cast and the crew gathered at a shopping mall in a suburb of New Delhi on Thursday. The film 'Tahaan' is produced under the banner of 'I Dream Productions' and is directed by Santosh Sivan. Award winning director Sivan is best known for films 'Asoka', 'The Terrorist' and 'Before the Rains'. Santosh Sivan's film 'Tahaan' stars Purav Bhandare, Rahul Bose, Anupam Kher, Sarika, Victor Banerjee and Rahul Khanna. 'Tahaan' is a fable-like journey of the eponymous eight-year-old boy, whose life revolves around the pursuit to find real purpose in his little world. The film's director Sivan said that the idea for the film stemmed from a newspaper report. He said that media reports played a part in his choosing Kashmir specifically as a setting for the story. About the setting of the story Bollywood actor Anupam Kher who is also of Kashmiri origin said, "After a long time a fable like story which our grandmother used to tell us has been made into a film and released. The only difference is that Santosh Sivan has set the story in the region of Pahalgam which has a history behind it and is going through a turmoil currently that way an innocent story becomes important in today's scenario." Speaking to the media present on the occasion Bollywood actor Sarika, who herself started her career as a child artist in a B.R. Chopra film spoke about the importance of the child artists in the films. "Now when you look at the children in the film they look like children around you and that's very appealing. All the characters like male character, the female character, the character roles and children are all part of it (the film) and if they (the children) look like that (a part of the film) then it's wonderful," said Sarika. Adnan Sami and Taufique Qureshi have composed the music of the film while Mehboob has penned the lyrics of the film. The songs of the film 'Tahaan' have been sung by Plethora of singers like Adnan Sami, Ritesh Menon, Gulzar Ganai and Sumedha Karmahe..
